Kantha Layers
Running stitch, old saris, and the warmth of Bengal
Kantha teaches us that reuse can be luxury—layers stitched with memory.
In Bengal, kantha was born from necessity and became art: old saris folded, stitched with running lines, turned into covers for monsoon nights. The stitch holds stories as much as cotton.
Our quilted layers borrow kantha’s spirit—soft fill, all-season weight, prints that feel collected rather than decorated. We work with makers who understand that a quilt should drape, not domineer.
Bengal’s contribution to Prakruti is subtle but constant: the idea that a bedcover can be gentle, layered, and deeply personal.
